Magic Island is within Ala Moana Beach Park is adjacent to Waikiki, just about 10-15 minutes away depending upon your Waikiki hotel and traffic.
It's scenic, photographs well, and it's handicap accessible. It has plenty of parking Monday to Thursday though Friday late afternoon can be busy. We can do Saturday in the mornings and Sunday mornings and sunset thereafter, it's just too busy with weekenders.
The spot we prefer is a grassy area about 200 yards up the paved sidewalk from the parking, up against the jetty and ocean, and a view of the ocean, Waikiki, and Diamond Head.
Early afternoon works with late afternoon being best for lighting, 4 pm to an hour before sunset. Morning works but, the sun is behind or above you and the ocean and sky can have glare with mid-day being a little better.
Note: We don't use the sunset as a background for ceremonies given the variety of shots we need to get, it's just too bright but, we can do sunset light portrait photos on the beach/sand with a sunset portrait session.
